About Me

What was the Inspiration?

I created Not Too Sweet because, more often than not, I found myself making the same adjustment to every dessert recipe: less sugar, please.

I love baking, but I’ve always struggled with recipes that are just too sweet. The problem is, changing the amount of sugar isn’t always as simple as it sounds. Take out too much, and you risk changing the texture or structure of the bake—or ending up with something that just doesn’t taste right. Keep too much, and you’re left with a dessert that’s overly sweet and, honestly, one I don’t even want to finish.

I wanted to create a space for recipes that strike that happy middle ground: sweet enough to feel like a treat, but not so sweet that the sweetness takes over. Here, I share recipes I’ve tested, tweaked, and enjoyed, with the goal of making baking a little easier for anyone who feels the same way.

But Not Too Sweet is about more than just recipes. I’m a self-proclaimed foodie who genuinely loves discovering great food, especially when it comes to pastries, desserts, and all things baked. So I also wanted a place to share the sweets I’ve loved along the way—from favorite bakeries and pastry shops to desserts I’ve discovered while traveling.

It All Starts Somewhere

Getting good at baking has to start somewhere. Here are some pictures of my pastries back in 2015. During my middle school summers, my mom sent me to baking camp and it this definitely was the foundation blocks of the self-proclaimed foodie I am today. While yes, some might view baking as a science and others as an art, I view baking as a way to eat something yummy 🙂 My page might not include award-winning recipes but they are geared to the common home baker that just likes the hobby of baking and eating yummy things all while remaining…not too sweet!
