Matcha Einspanner from Verse

As a true matcha lover, I’ve tried many matchas all across NYC, and I am proud to agree that Verse IS worth the hype. This is the Iced Matcha Einspanner, which features a deliciously not-too-sweet, strong but not bitter matcha profile with a slightly sweet and light cold foam on top. Additionally, their black sesame latte is one of the best I’ve ever had! I love the nutty roasted flavor of the black sesame. I also add a shot of espresso to it for the extra kick of caffeine.

Verse also has a variety of food. We tried their egg sando and the smoked salmon toast. I definitely enjoyed the egg sando more, as there was a good balance of flavors and textures, and visibly appealing. I feel like it could’ve used some type of acid to cut through the mellowness of the egg and bread, perhaps capers? I wasn’t as much of a fan of the smoked salmon toast. While I loved the rich balance of flavors, acid vs. cream, it was overly creamy and salty from the stracciatella cheese and smoked salmon mix. I would recommend using a low-sodium burrata instead of stracciatella. The sourdough it was served with was unbelievably thick, which made it pretty difficult to bite into. I resorted to tearing it apart into bite-sized pieces with my hands, but it was still a bit difficult to eat.
